We simply need to protect the water(which is already added as per the W/C ratio freezed while designing the mix)within the concrete till the hydration process completes. This is the only purpose of curing we do with water. Now if you can protect the said water within the concrete by any other means ,which should not be harmful to the concrete at any point, you can.
